We have been filing extensions on our taxes ever since April 15th, because my husband still had some outstanding stuff on the books from shutting down the business that he wanted to clear before we filed.
Our CPA finally finished up in time to make our new deadline of Oct 15th.
We found out two things - 1)it was definitely a good idea to shut down the business, because we lost a lot of money last year. 2) when your business loses a lot of money, you get a bunch of tax money back.
We are going to be able to pay off all the outstanding business debt and have some left over, which my husband wants to go toward my college costs. Now that the money is removed from the equation, since I'm not going to have to try and find the money in our pretty tight family budget, I feel much better about going.
It feels really, really good to have all the business stuff closed out and done. It's a relief, because it's all finally over, we no longer owe any money because of the business. Hubby is making more money working for someone else, and we don't have the risks we used to have.
God is good. Life is good.
