quote:October 2005 New research suggests that men who use anabolic steroids to bulk up their muscles, for example, may be compromising their ability to produce sperm – and risking their chance at fatherhood. The study is the first ever to investigate a group of men who are having difficulty conceiving and have a history of steroid use.

I'd blame it more on lazy reporting than anything else. Reporters are in the habit of calling any and all new studies "breakthroughs."
That said, if it was truly the first study, then it wouldn't be all that significant. A single study really isn't all that reliable until it has been backed by several other independant studies.
