Yeah, okay - I went to church. Check.

Okay, okay, yeah - I took a walk in the misty rain, on the soggy leaves. *scowl*

Yes, yes, you're right - I made one of my famous batches of homemade soup. *nummy*

But the nifty thing is that I CANNED for the very first time in my whole entire life.

14 quarts of pears. *Phew*

That's hard work, that is - no wonder my grandma was so excited about the big freezer grandpa bought her when I was a little girl. *grin*

I like homemade soups. They're usually pretty good. I also recall my grandparents canning when I was younger (one side of my family ran a farm, the other side ran an orchard). Crazy stuff that. Good memories. [Smile]

And why is canning not the same in Canada as it is in the United States?

Because they are trying to sell different brands of home canning equipment, presumably.

Just out of curiosity, does your username (Shan) come from Pamela Dean's books?

I'm fairly certain Shan's SN, much like mine, is drawn from RL. [Wink]

Chicken vegetable rice soup. Nummy.

Shan is indeed drawn from RL. I have some other SNs that are throw-aways for fun.

What does Pamela Dean write?

Thanks, rivka, for the link. I'm not sure I could have explained . . . and I fully intend on enjoying the fruits of my labor! *grin*

(Did I mention the pear crisp I made as dessert, too?)

The Secret Country trilogy by Pamela Dean has a thing called "the Ring of Shan" and "Shan's Riddle". Critical to the story, which is one of my favorite reads ever.

This, of course, makes perfect sense.

Why do you always make sense? It's very infuriating, you know.

LOL.

The last can-can style dance Shan did was about 15 years ago, New Year's Eve, on the top of a table at a dance.

*big grin*
