So, I told my in-laws about KQ being pregnant.

She didn't want to tell them, so she gave me an opening to break it to them. I was interrupted 3 times by my almost-step-mother-in-law before getting out, "speaking of children...we are having another one".

There was a definite clang of a fork or lid and a moment awkward of silence. My father-in-law kept one of the straightest faces I have ever seen and didn't say a word. He is very hard to read sometimes. Although today he sent KQ 1 or 2 articles on fetal development.

I know how difficult it can be to break important news to the people you love, especially if you think they may react negatively. I also know the relief that comes from having told, even if their reaction is less than stellar.

Congrats on being open. I'm glad the response wasn't negative, even if it wasn't exactly positive.

wow, sounds like a tough crowd. i just found out my brother is going to be the first of the 3 kids on my family to have children. btw, he is 27. tho everyone was congratulating him, we all have mixed opinions, and we decided on this:

As long as having a child (planned or unplanned) is something that they would like to do and prepare for, we will be 100% supportive.

so hopefully im not the first to say, congrats to u!

Well, he's ignoring the part where my almost-step-mother, her mother, and Margarita, an old family friend, all started immediately oohing and awwing and cooing over having a new baby.

He says there was an awkward moment of silence. I think he was just anticipating it so much that he imagined it. Sure, everyone looked at us for a split second to make sure they'd heard right, but then all the women started in on the baby-luvvin. [Big Grin]

Wow! Hatrack knew about this before Gramma and Grampa did.

Oh wait, we knew before KQ did, too. [Big Grin]

That's right, we did, didn't we? [Big Grin] I predicted this back in July or August too, does that count?

I remember Boon's inlaw's reaction. I still feel bad about that. ((Boon)

When my brother and my SIL told my parents they were pregnant, after like 7 years of marriage, I think my dad made a comment about it being about time. I'm not sure that comment went over all that well.

Well, since I'm starting to not fit my tighter pants (I showed early last time, and I also never got those muscles fully back in shape after Emma), I figured I'd better say something, and sooner was easier than later, and since they invited us over for a family dinner...

Yeah, I'm glad my family didn't react like Boon's in-laws.

I must have missed that one.

kq, I'm glad they reacted well. We have had some not-so enthusiastic"reactions.

I told my parents yesterday. Well, actually, I told my mom who passed the news onto my dad.

My mom sounded happy and her comment when I told her she would have another grandbaby was "thats good, Bryan and Amy aren't giving us any"

My dad said congratulations and that my family is already growing.

So, I guess it is good now that the news is out and my family took it very well, but I don't think they got the part about it being an accident.
