It's about time that we get a video game movie that is done right, what with the jokes(imho) that were Doom, Resident Evil and, less recently, Tomb Raider.
Not that having Peter Jackson, WETA and co. involved guarentees a good movie, but one can hope.

I'm more concerned with who is directing. Producers have limited powers to make a film great if the director mucks it all up.
Having PJ involved is a good sign certainly, but that isn't anything close to the be all end all.
Everytime I hear an announcement for PJ, I keep hoping it's for The Hobbit. If only Sony and New Line could come to an agreement.
