So I keep on thinking up these little questions that don't deserve threads of their own and would probably be annoying to try to Google (plus I don't trust Google. Too impersonal). So I decided to make a Random Questions thread. Anyone else is free to ask random questions too, as well as answer. I'll probably change the title periodically when I think up new ones. [Smile]

Today we have ...

So a while ago I watched a marathon of 24, season two. And now I'm seeing previews for the season coming up. I was wondering if any of you could enlighten me as to whether or not it would be advisable to start watching this season. Would I be confused or annoyed? I'd like to watch all of the seasons, but I don't have the time or resources. So should I bother?

Also, ring tones. What's the deal with them? How do I go about getting neato songs as my ring tone? My parents get billed (I do pay for my own though, just through them), so I don't want to drag them into anything complicated. I really know nothing about the process though. Is it possible to just buy one with my own credit card or something?

And finally ... what's the deal with batteries? My cell phone battery has all of a sudden started dying quicker than usual. It used to last 2 or 3 days easy, but now it's lucky to last a day. I've only had the phone for about 6 months. I assume it has something to do with my charging habits? What are healthy battery charging habits. My laptop too. It hasn't taken the same drastic dive as my cell phone, but I'm scared it will.

Edit: Also, would my battery affect my text messaging? They've started taking a really long time to send, sometimes failing 2 or 3 times before going through. [Dont Know]

Anyways, that's all I can think of right now. Thanks anyone who can give any answers!

Ring tones, completely depend on what carrier you use (verizon, AT&T, Cingular...)

As for 24, the shows frequently pick up a year or more after the previous season...so a lot goes on in Jack's life that you are missing anyway...since missing watching this season without watching others won't really hurt you. Sure, you will miss out on some...but we all miss out on most of Jack's life anyway so it is not that big of a deal.

I've always heard that the best way to deal with rechargeable batteries is to charge them all the way up, and then drain them all the way down. Not sure if cell phone batteries get a memory or not though.

Your battery shouldn't impact text messaging though, unless it was almost dead and you were loosing your connection to the network.

My carrier is Cingular. And that's what I did for my battery, and I was thinking "Hey, this is working really great!". Then all of a sudden the life time just started detiorating quite rapidly. Anyone have any clue how much new batteries cost?

well, when I searched for cingular battery on ebay, I got a bunch of hits for under 15 bucks. I would imagine that if you got it directly from cingular it would be more expensive though.

I don't know if they sell ringtones directly. You might checkout their website. I know verizon has a site where they will sell verizon customers ringtones. Most carriers in the USA make it difficult to buy tones from outside sources. They tend to lock down cell phones pretty tightly anymore.

If you have Cingular you can download ringtones on the website which are then sent to your phone and the cost is added to the bill. Or on most current phone models you can buy directly on your phone. But I find the website is easier since you can preview. I'm sure there are other ways of getting free or cheap third-party ringtones but I've never played with that and have just ordered a few from Cingular.

I wouldn't watch 24 out of order. Especially not this season.

I have a random question. I took 2 pseudoephedrine decongestant tablets after lunch and they don't seem to be helping much. Did eating first decrease the efficacy?

Me either, for this new season it'd probably be best to have watched the previous ones because of the major plot twist that was already released in the teaser.

Probably not. I take it on a full stomach all the time. Sometime there is just Snot that Pseudoephedrine Conquers Not.

You can find programs out there to make ringtones out of songs on your computer (I have no idea about the legality of the same) and use a program like BitPim to transfer them to your phone with Bluetooth.
