There is no reason to kill someone for making a joke. I'm sure if there was a number of the members of Hatrack would already be dead.
If I have offended or distressed or someother adjectitve I can't think of off the top of my head, I apologize. But there is still no reason to say such things.
You're lucky I'm so used to being threatened to the death. And being charged at by a maniac with a pocket knife during school. Otherwise, I may not have taken it quite as well, to be threatened so.

You know, on rereading your posts, it occurs to me that you might be silly/stupid/crazy enough to think I was being serious. Just to make sure that I make everything crystal clear, and save myself any possible grief, let me state that, unequivically, I have no desire to actually kill you, Steve, and I was just joking.
I would like some clarification on whether or not you honestly believed I was threatening to kill you.

This has got to be the funniest thing I've read in a long time. <still laughing>
And just to clarify, I am not laughing at you Stormy, I'm laughing as an audience member watching a great skit and trying to figure out who is supposed to be the straight man.

On the other hand, if *he* is responsible for the disappearance of Danzig... <makes suspicious squinty eyes> ... he may have a guilty conscious... <starts 'Telltale Heart' soundtrack in the background>

See, *I* thought it was funny, too. I actually felt the funny move over me, yay, down unto the tenth generation when I was making those posts, but now I just don't know, and I honestly can't tell if Steve was joking or not.
That's me, Steve. Crying. Crying my little robotic heart out.
*turns baby seal eyes on Steve*

Actually, I was joking at some parts. The bit about being charged by a maniac with a pocket knife was the truth though. But this, this bothers me:
quote: Don't make me kill you, Steve.
See. Here you threaten to kill me. Which I'm used to, so it doesn't bother me.
But here, which does bother me:
quote: I have no desire to actually kill you, Steve, and I was just joking.
You say you are joking. I just thought I would let you know, from someone who has been threatened to death a number of times, that threatening to kill someone is no joking matter.
It is a very serious thing, and it is not something to laugh about. You should think of that before you go around telling people, "Hey, you know what? I'm gonna kill you."
Killing is not a good thing. Even talking about it. So lets be less casual with the death threats, shall we?
Like I said, you're lucky I'm used to this sort of thing or I may not have taken it so well.

But for those of us who have been threatened by mentally unstable pschopaths who shouldn't be in school and who will flunk and be in school again next year, it isn't very funny.
I'm sure all those men risking their lives in Iraq would be perfectly contented with letting you watch their friends die and see if you laugh then. But, you know, that is just my opinion.
Edit:
Meg:
Two things-
1) You're probably older than I am. Just think. If I'm younger than you and people are already trying to kill me, what will happen when I'm older?
2) Does it happen on a daily basis, your life being threatened I mean.

Steve, with age comes levity. It's a tool of survival. Even people who have faced death laugh again. It's one of the gifts we give each other and to ourselves as humans.
What you need is a good tickle fight.

1) Yes, I'm older than you are. This is why I know not to take myself so seriously. When I was your age, I'm sure I did take myself quite as seriously as you did.
2) Not anymore, no.

LD- I hate to disappoint, but I'm not too terribly ticklish.
Megan-
0) Sorry 'bout that.
1) Actually, I never take myself too terribly serious. But it is such a trivial thing to debate over.
2) That is very good. Because such things can cause stress. And stress only causes more problems. My dad has a lot of health issues because of too much stress.

Actually, it wasn't really stressful, all things considered. It was a background part of my environment at the time, and it was something that I just incorporated into my way of doing things. A couple of the more dramatic times make for really good stories now.

Steve, We've talked about this. Don't do that. You're much more interesting when you don't do that. And that's all I'm going to say.

So! Has anyone seen or heard from Danzig? Maybe to re-rail this thread after the totally bizarre turn it took...

I just thought I would let you know, that I am not lying. I just got through saying how serious threatening to kill someone is and now I am being accused of lying about it.
Nope, sorry. There really is a really scary guy with a knife who tries to kill me. He has stabbed me with his car keys and taken my esophagus in his hand and gripped.
His name is Justin Koppelman. And it is kind of sad because he used to be a loyal Boy Scout. But then his Grandpa died, and Justin joined the clan.
He didn't used to be so bad. He was cool to hang out with sometimes, but I try to avoid him now.
Anywho, Justin didn't threaten to kill me today. But I think he might have been hungover. He drinks now too, did I mention that?

Steve have you seen a counselor or assistant principal about that? It might be good, don't just worry that he might actually kill you then.

I've been considering it. I'm going to wait a little bit though. I think right now he just kidding around, kind of. He has a sick sense of humor. But if he pulls out a knife again, I'm going to.

I have brave, friendly Senior friends now. I have a feeling that if they having anything to do with it Justin won't be stabbing me anytime soon.

Steve, sorry if I dismissed your fear of death threats as a crank. I was kind of rude because I wasn't sure if you were just yanking my chain, but I see that your concerns are legitimate, and that I was unnecessarily rude to you. Pardon.
