It's wonderful. The idea of a completely unique heart defect intrigues me. How is that possible? I wonder if babies that develop this defect just don't develop far usually?

I'm sure this is stereotyping, but the few teenage mothers I've come across all seem to be budding cosmetologists..

I bet my sister will find this. Her baby died of HLHS several years ago, and she is usually able to find these types of articles.

Great story. I know this is trivializing a real-life miracle, but I can't help imagining this kid growing up as a protagonist in some novel-- raised by a single mom in a Southern town with the story of the miraculous preservation of his life and a sense of destiny for great things . . .

*puts overactive imagination away and again says "wow" at the skill of the doctor*
