Wow. I'm at least happy that the Justice Department is taking this seriously. I'm not happy that it happened. To me, it looks like the over-zealous actions of a glory-whore, not a pattern by our government. Of course, it could go deeper in that this prosecutor is claiming that he is being retaliated against for having gone to Congress to complain about the Justice Department.
The article doesn't mention it, but the original convictions were thrown out at the request of the Justice Department in September of 2004.

So what's the difference between this and Dubya&Gang screwing with US intelligence concerning Iraq? Other than the dead&wounded and the $200billion per year being spent to coverup the crime?

Biggest difference I see is the Justice Department working to overturn the original convictions and go after its own guy (Coventino worked for Justice Department at the time of the trial -- he's now a private lawyer in Michigan).
But is Coventino just symptomatic of our own mass hysteria over terrorism? And is that the same thing that landed us in the Iraq war without solid justification for it? You bet.
