My high school's doing West Side Story, and, well . . .
I was panicked after auditions, mostly because I can't sing or dance--I'm only an actor. Panicked more because though the callback list isn't necessarily cast list, I wasn't on it.
And today, I find out I made cast. More of a minor role than I wanted, but hey, like I said, my talents aren't perfect for musicals. I'll be A-Rab, one of the Jets.

Hey, being a Jet is awesome! A-rab, if I remember correctly, is the one who gets his ear cut by the sharks. Heck, I would have been glad to have been a Jet, or any character with a speaking role. I instead played Nibbles, a Shark. I would also like to point out that I am a girl, so this was a bit of a stretch for me.
But, I digress. Congrats on your part! Have fun learning how to stage fight. That's my favorite part.

I can't wait, I really can't. And my best friend is one of the Jet girls--I finally managed to pull her into drama this year--so I've got a carpool, too.
Actually, half the people in the play are in all my classes. This leads to us trying to stage fight in math . . . and in the hall . . . and at lunch . . . we were a bit too excited. I think the administrators would have broke up the fight, except that we were singing and they must have just figured we're drama geeks.

And considering I'm very pale, I'm not sure I'd be a good Shark.
Of course, my friend Christine is Maria--excellent voice, trained for opera--and she's very white with vivid red hair. Bernardo, her brother in the play, is black.
This shall be interesting.

Oh, they still do that in the Bronx. I think the current fad is seeing who can do the best waltz in those baggy pants.
