I guess I haven't been around too much in the past week. I've been deathly ill. My sniffles turned into a cough, and the cough moved into my chest. I went to the doctor earlier this week. It was the doctor I hate. He gave me a z-pack and some Robitussin.
The Robitussin didn't quiet my coughing. I had trouble sleeping. I took the z-pack, but I woke up this morning feeling worse than ever, hacking up a lung, and in chills. I went back to the clinic.
This time, it was a different doctor. She was really cool. She gave me a prescription for a different antibiotic, a new inhaler, a vicodin cough syrup, and a chest x-ray (which she said I could have done at the after-hours clinic she works at when she's not at my school). She suggested a new kind of medicine for my congestion. She also gave me a steroid injection.
Well, I had the x-ray done. I don't have pneumonia. It's likely that the mold from the hurricane is messing up my sinuses and making my mild asthma, well, not so mild.
But dear LORD, I feel AMAZING. No one told me that a steroid injection would make me feel so GOOD. The doctor warned me to take it easy for the next few days because I'm not really better. She said the steroid would wear off in two or three days, and I should start taking Claritin and using Nasonex in addition to my antibiotics and inhaler at that time. The problem could still come back in the future, but the Claritin and such should help prevent that.
Until the shot wears off though, WOW. I just want to eat and do things. I am in an amazing mood. I feel a hundred times better than I felt this morning. I feel HEALTHY. I was pretty sure when I woke up that I was going to have to go to the hospital or something.
Anyways, I thought I'd share. Life is amazing, and I love everything. I can breathe without coughing up internal organs!
