I'm starting a website soon, with quite a large number of pages and up to 5 different types of forums. (No other details about it yet though, sorry. It'll be up as of January 25 if all goes to plan.) I'm more than able to pay back a bank loan to start it up, but just to stay ahead a bit I'm thinking google ads would pull in a bit of profit, and they do look stylish, for an ad at least. Does anyone with experience with GoogleAds know:
Is there a certain amount of views/clicks needed/month to pull a worthwhile profit? Just an impression got from a friend. Any other information regarding the profitability of them, as well as general experience with them, would be greatly appreciated. I havn't found another type of ad that wouldn't look like an eye sore on my site, so if these aren't worthwhile then I'll just have no ads.

It depends on what you call a "worthwhile profit." You need to generate at least $100 in order for google to send you a check. I don't remember what their current rates are, but that information is all available from the adwords website.
Sign up for an account - there's no obligation - and check it out. That's the best way to do it. And since it costs nothing, it's worth implementing, even if it takes you several months to generate the revenue for a check.

GoogleAds are quite profitable IF the site attracts people who will click on them andIF the clicks lead to serious inquiries for goods or services being offered. ie Fees from frivolous or malicious clicks are rebated back to the advertisers' accounts, not passed on to the site operator. And yes, Google can tell the difference. But if a click is valid, the site operator makes considerably more money off that referral than Google does.
