I'm sorry, where on the site are you finding that? It's not in news, rumors, FAQ poll, or anywhere else I can think to look.

The trick is to click around the room the Eraser takes you to. Clicked in a certain way, objects there will reveal surprises...such as the key to the door. [Smile]

Yeah, that was my first impression. I was expecting something much more grandiose and ... I dunno, just something more fitting for a "We've been waiting for the past 10 years for this freaking book!" book. Maybe something like "Harry Potter and His Death". Or "Harry Potter and the Stone Secret of Azkaban's Goblet, by Order of the Half Blood Prince". Or something.

As Harry stared down at the broken body of Voldemort, a tear leaked from his eye. Not just because it was over... It was over... But a part of him was gone as well. Things would never be the same without the shard of Voldemort's soul lodged firmly in that lighting shaped patch on his skull.

Harry looked up at Hermonie and started to smile. When he was promptly run over by a London bus.

THE END

"When he was promptly run over by a London bus. Scar."

There it is, lets see if Rowling is gutsy enough to do it.

I agree with anyone who says the title is a bit of a let down. I expected something far more...I don't know, BIG. Something that realizes the full culmination of the story.

Is Hallows supposed to be connected to Godric Hollow, his original home?

I like:

Harry Potter and the Return of the King

Wait, I think that's taken, so:

Harry Potter and the Final Duel

I told you, that's taken too, by C.S. Lewis. Anyways, while I also am a bit disappointed by the title, I really don't know what would have made me (or everyone else) happy. The name sticks with the traditions set by the other 6 books, and as they seem to have worked pretty well, I say we give her (Rowling) the benefit of the doubt.

The HP titles have always been more specific than that. A bit cryptic, perhaps, if you haven't read the book yet, but Rowling's never been one for "Return of the King" or "A New Hope" style titles.

Personally, I think "Deathly Hallows" sounds a bit awkward, but not any moreso than "Half Blood Prince."

BlackBlade: If you want guts, let's have it end this way instead...

Harry screamed as Ron and Hermione's afterimages faded. He twisted in the spell's grip, but was unable to break free.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA," said Voldemort, pausing to gnaw voraciously on the scenery. "Also," he added, "Avada Kedavra. You idiot."

The last thing Harry perceived, before everything went black for absolutely the last time, was the searing pain in his scar.

Tarrsk -

Seriously?

Look at the first six books, they are all exactly titled the way the original three Star Wars and LOTR books are titled.

A New Hope was about Luke, who was in fact the Hope. Empire Strikes back, they struck back. Return of the Jedi, Luke came back and whooped on people. Fellowship of the Ring, they formed a fellowship. Two Towers, about, crap, I think Two Towers is a reference to Minas Morgul and Isengard, but I can't remember. It's not Isengard and Barad Dur (as everyone things it is)(but I can't remember specifically what it is). Anyway, Returk of the King, Aragorn comes back.

Sorcerer's Stone, it's about the Sorcerer's Stone, etc. etc. They all exactly describe the thing that's going to happen in the story to follow. The only thing LOTR suffers from is being far larger, grander, and more epic than Harry Potter, which doesn't really give it the chance to be as specific. What would you call the Harry Potter books if you had to take all seven, and split them up into three?

Right, and that's what I'm getting at. Rowling's titles always refer to something specific in the plot- the name of a location, object, or event. "Two Towers" is definitely more vague than that... it would be more analogous if Tolkien had named his book, "Isengard and Minas Morgul" (or whatever combination of towers he originally had envisioned). "Return of the King" is more specific, I'll admit, but it still doesn't specify which king, or what he is returning from. Titles like "A New Hope" (or, God help us, "The Phantom Menace") are about as vague as you could possibly be without using a Star Trek-esque single-word title.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter all that much. I was nitpicking to start with. [Smile]

Ah (Lyrhawn), you're right. From Wikipedia: Minas Morgul and Orthanc

Tolkien did hate the name Return of the King though, IIRC. I gather he was more of a fan of ambiguousness.
