Read the trade of this three issue Grant Morrison/Philip Bond mini-series the other day. While Morrison is hit-or-miss with me, his stuff is almost always worth at least a glance.
This one I liked enough to buy a copy to own.
"Vimanarama" is the story of a young, anxious Shiite Muslim Pakistani man living in the UK. Very nervous about the arranged marriage his parents have set up for him. Borderline suicidal, in fact.
It's also the story of a high tech city built by a high tech civilization. One that imprisons a band of evil demons composed of fossil fuels.
It's also the story of a band of semi-divine Indian-Asian super-heroic giants who return after 6,000 years to save the Earth.
It's a romantic comedy, a science fiction epic, and religion by way of Silver Age Jack Kirby super-hero comics.
And...it works!
Try it, if you see it.
