I first heard about DHMO through Hatrack, and a few years ago had much fun when I proposed that we get our water tested for DHMO contamination... [Smile]

Anyone watch that Penn & Teller show on Showtime? They sent a petition to ban DHMO around at an environmentalist convention. The amount of support they got was simply astounding.

I saw that episode. It was really depressing that they got hundreds of signatures and only one person questioned it at all.

As much as I would love to ban it, I find that I have grown quite addicted to the substance.

I'm a bit addicted too, I'm afraid. Withdrawal would probably kill me.

Nice to have you here today, Bob. Anyone else care to introduce themselves to the rest of us? Welcome to the first day of DHMO Addicts Anonymous.

Even more depressing was the episode of the Man Show which involved the hosts going to theme parks or conventions or fairs or whatever and getting people (lots of women) to sign a petition against "Women's Suffrage". How much of it was staged, I don't know, but I can imagine lots of people not knowing what the word 'suffrage' means.

Penn & Teller are awesome! We saw that show and we rented the rest of the other two seasons. The one where they debunked mediums and those who claim to speak to the dead...I love watching Penn get so worked up. He makes a lot of sense.

Funny show.

The PETA episode of that show was great in a really horrible way. Penn really ripped em a new one.

You can actually watch that one on the internet somewhere. I'd post the link, but the internet nanny here at school lists it as being pornographic.

My God! There's dihydrogen monoxide in my coffee, my child's juice- there may even be trace amounts in my gasoline! Oh, what a world...

I first remember DHMO in about 1997. It went around at work, and we all came up with our own disturbing facts about DHMO.

Did you know that DHMO is a byproduct of fossil fuel combustion? (but oddly enough, not from charcoal)

Virtually no one at work got tripped up by it, but when I showed it to my mother she fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Now that I teach "computers" in middle school I use it as part of my lesson on finding reliable information on the internet.
