A site dedicated to getting TV shows released on DVD will place a show on the list with one vote. After 1,000 votes, a request is sent to the owners of rights to the show to demonstrate how many potential viewers are interested.
For one of my own personal favorites, please place your information here http://www.orderdvdtvshows.com/odts_watch_lists/l.shtml to be added to a "Watch List" for a DVD release of "Laramie," a classic western starring none other than Mr. Robert Fuller, who remembers it as his best role. Like "Emergency!" this excellent series was filmed at Universal (then Revue) studios and it's fun spotting repeating guest stars and locations. One episode featured Julie London as a guest star. This is absolutely NOT to be missed and all E! fans are urged to help promote release of this long-neglected gem! Thanks for your interest!

They send the name to the studio asking for them to release the dvd after only a thousand names?
10 thousand, or a hundred thousand sounds more realistic. Studio execs aren't going to fall out of their chairs and say "holy crap, one thousand people! Let's rush this to the factory!"
