Does anybody know of an mp3 player for under $100 (or around there) that has multiple playlist capability?
It doesn't even have to be exactly a playlist -- If I could put my mp3s on there in different directories and then select which directory to play, that would work great.
I want to be able to manage these playlists from my computer, instead of having to build them on the tiny screen of the mp3 player.
Creating the playlist with the player's software is acceptable, but I'd really rather be able to do it without relying on their software -- either by doing it with directories, or reading in something like winamp or WMP playlist files.
Does anybody know of an under $100 player that can do this? The cheapest one I know of is the 1GB IPod Nano, which runs about $150.

My MP3-CD player does it without titles. I put all the songs I want into a specific folder, and the player lets me select which folder to play. Its definitely not as high tech as what you are probably looking for, but they run around $30-$40 these days, and a single blank cd holds about 800mb.

That is a good point. About a month ago, decent ones bottomed out at about $50.
Of course, the big problem with those is that they are so big. If I could find a good one that played miniature CDs or DVDs, that would be awesome, but...

Apparantly they actually do have some now that will even name the track. Wow, I bought mine about 6 years ago for $200, and it is completely out dated.
Though for that price you might as well get an mp3 player.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "hold" switch. Do you mean something that will lock the controls, because it's got that. It only has two controls though, the play/pause/power button and a side sort of scroller/button that does all the input. I find this actually works very well for me. It's tiny and very light, so it's ideal for exercizing.

Nope. The active part is basically a flash drive with the controls set in it. It clicks firmly into the other part, which is just battery storage. It's also got a sheath with a clip on it and an arm band.

I think you've got me sold, Squicky. I just need to decide now whether I want a Creative Muvo or a Creative Zen Nano.
