In fact the man was Guy Goma, a Congolese man applying for a technology-related job with the British Broadcasting Corp. Goma followed an employee to the studio after a mistake at a reception desk, the corporation said late Monday.
I've had some messed up job interviews in my day... but they've never gone out over the air...

Oh jeez - that's one of my worst nightmares. I just hate job interviews. I'd have to spend several hours in a dark room with a damp cloth over my eyes after that.

Ha! That explains a lot. I saw that on the live broadcast, and I was sure that something had gone wrong. The guy just looked and sounded so confused. The woman interviewing him seemed unsure about what to do.
At the time, though, I just assumed that maybe because his English wasn't so good, he was worried about saying the wrong thing and looking foolish on live national TV.
In the circumstances, he did amazingly well.
