I love special Edition DVDs, but I wish they would come out at the same time as the basic DVD, so I have a choice, instead of being forced to buy both.

I love hearing the poor actors and studios complaining about hardly making any money because someone pirates DVDs.

What, like you're surprised? Movie companies seem to have finally gotten the idea that they can have mulit-level pricing depending on what they offer. Frankly, I think it began with Lord of the Rings, when Peter Jackson put out two versions of each film onto DVD. Since then it seems to have gained popularity, to the point that in the last few months, different purchasing options are available immediately upon initial distribution. Harry Potter, King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia are three that I can think of right off. They all had single disc cheap versions and more expensive versions with bonus features.

BEWARE! Many of the single disc options have no bonus features at all so don't be tricked into buying one if you're like me and love all the behind the scenes stuff.

I was rather annoyed by the dual release of Harry Potter 4. All the editions were two disc versions- now studios get away with charging the same price for the one disc movie 4 versions as the two discs of 1,2, and 3. And you have to pay waaay too much for the two disc version.

The Princess Bride has been in dire need of a special release for years now. The previous DVD version sucked. It only has the movie and the terrible trailer. Nothing else.

I couldn't see a difference between these two versions, except for the graphics. Is there?

They just released a Special Edition of Napoleon Dynomite. Guess I'll have to buy that now too.

I think the case is the only difference.
