That is starting to be the feeling I get when I read this article I hope they're sure is a damn good reason for it.

Exactly what I was thinking. Do they just think we need to fund them? Why is this just an issue with the United States? Are there other countries involved other than the Swiss? What does multiple mean? I own multiple cars (2). Who was contacted in Washington? Contacting the President compared to the Pentagon would make a great difference on the responce time and what the responce would be.

This article was very vague in its reporting and so it is really hard to judge the actions of the United States by it.

Money. Lots of it.

Fairly bold and quite frankly way melodramatic assertion to make there Blayne.

You have no idea who the request was sent to, or what it was. There aren't nearly enough details in that article to derive any sort of final conclusion. What if the request went through some mid level staffer in the FBI? or a minor flunkie in the Department of Homeland Security? And you blame the entire US and say we aren't serious about nukes?

Ridiculous. If the facts come out and it ends up being that the President himself rebuffed the requests of the Swiss, then I'll give your claim some credence. Otherwise it's just plain silly.

If nothing else (and I cringe at the possibility of agreeing with Blayne) the U.S. has made its stance on foreign held nuclear weapons quite clear by withdrawing from the INF, Start I, and Start II non-proliferation treaties.

This is especially disheartening considering that the whole reason we invaded Iraq was because they had weapons of mass destruction that didn't actually exist.
