In a perfect world, would "The Thief Lord" be made for direct to dvd release and "Click" be assulting us at ever film-going? Do the makers of "Click" really think that people seeing "The Last Days of Sophie Scholl" are interested in their film?

Please ignore the content of this post after 'Lord", I would much rather talk about how great a film it was than rant about awful American films with budgets bigger than the collective number of synapses of the writers and director.

I thought that "Click" looks like a fun little movie. [Blushing]

Yeah, it has an interesting premise for a comedy. And although I probably wont see it at the box office, I can see what it's appeal might be. Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift on the other hand.....

I think it's a wonderful thing that a movie with little commercial appeal (relatively) can get a straight-to-dvd release at all. And you can almost certainly thank the Clicks and Fast and Furiouses of the world for the money studios are willing to risk on more artsy endeavors.

But, with the sucess of both the book and the Harry Potter films, and this being summer and all, would you not think that studios would take the risk.

The Thief Lord. Audience reaction appears to be mixed. I haven't seen it or read the book, so I can't comment personally.
<edit>You can also see a trailer and a sample scene from the movie here </edit>
