Anterior meaning front of the neck where the trachea is.
It was a new experience, and felt a little weird. Basiclly the MT pushes your trachea slightly to the side and massages posterior to the carotid artery.
Wouldn't recomend it to the feit of heart, I suppose. It's a good way to treat whiplash, which I kinda need, but I'm also a bit of a hypochondriac about it. I keep thinking that maybe an artery in my neck will get pinched off and decrease bloodflow to my head or something. I'm silly like that.

I believe that that particular style of massage is better known by its more common name, "throttling".

If I had to rank the parts of my body that I'd like to have massaged, the "posterior to the carotid artery" wouldn't even make it into the top 10.
