The signs popped up everywhere over night. For the Democratic primary for rep, not in my district but in the one next door, is a guy I used to work for.

He's nice and friendly and, totally incompeptant, lousy manager, and quite possibly suffering from delusional paranoia. He would make a lousy, easily manipulated, and incompetant public serveant.

Everytime I see one of his signs, I want to scream.

This describes way too many lawmakers already. [Wink]

That's just one reason we want government to have less power, not more.

I like the new message coming out of the Democratic camp though. It's based on those six points, which escape me at the moment, but it's something like energy independence, national security, the economy, such and such... It's smaller and more concise, and I think it makes Republicans silly for saying the Democrats are flailing when they are championing things they've stood for for a long time now.

Further, everytime I see a Dick Devos ad in Michigan (he's running for Governor for the Republicans) I want to scream. He's spending millions while complaining that Jenny Granholm isn't doing enough to bring jobs to Michigan, and this on the heels of an announcement that Google is moving 1,000 jobs here. So then he starts this new ad claiming Granholm is all negative and full of untrue attacks on him. I've only even seen one or two of her ads, and they weren't negative, she's barely even campaigning yet it feels like. He pushes me further and further into the Democratic camp, I can only shudder to think how it'll be with Michael Bouchard and Debbie Stabenow.

The "delusional paranoia" made me think of the mayor in Family Guy.

quote:
Somebody's stealing my water! It just went down the drain. They're crafty, I tell you. It happens when you least expect it. Show yourself, damn you!
And my personal favorite:
quote:
Not the Griffins, you moron! The rest of my Lite Brite pieces! My name isn't "Adam We"... or is it? Who am I? What number did you call? Don't ever call here again! [hangs up] I guess I told him! Nobody messes with Adam We.

Here is an article from the Michigan Daily (University of Michigan's Newspaper) about Google comming to Michigan. google to be neighbor

I don't know much about what Granholm did to bring Google to Michigan, but to me it looks like Larry Page's ties with Ann Arbor and more importantly the University helped a lot.

I agree about the Devos ads. "Let's get out of the mud and back to business" or something like that. That ad and others in the same vein add nothing to his campaign other than attacking his opponent. He needs to try to stop looking like an arrogant fool.

Looks to me like the biggest thing that brought them here other than Larry Page was the fact that we're cutting the SBT (Single Business Tax) for 20 years. Michigan is I think the only state that has such a tax, which Granholm is constantly attacked for, but we're also the only, or one of the only states that doesn't have a corporate income tax. So I think it equals out. Either way, Granholm can claim it as an economic victory for her.
