I'm a little surprised no one has posted any comments on this movie yet.

Last week I went out to see Woody Allen's new movie "Scoop", and I loved it. It's quirky, weird, and full of the dry humor that comes from most Woody Allen pictures.

I also have to give praise to the stars, Hugh Jackman and Scarlet Johannsen. I've only seen Hugh in the X-Men movies (and host the Tony's once), and I was very impressed with his range (From berserker mutant to upper-class British playboy). And Scarlet does a great job, at times, of appearing as a young, female Woody Allen.

Anyway, go see the movie!

I haven't seen the movie yet, and probably won't for some time, but that's only because it won't be in rotation over here for a while longer.

I have seen Kate & Leopold, in which Jackman starred opposite Meg Ryan, and even then it was obvious to me that he'd be able to perform a wide variety of characters. Yes, I know K&L is a romantic comedy, so sue me...
When I went to see it, two reasons were foremost in my mind; 1- to see wether Hugh Jackman would be able to adequately fill the role of the romantic dreamer. 2- it's a movie that involves time travel, which is always a good reason to watch a movie. (see: Donnie Darko, The Butterfly Effect etc.)

Hadn't heard of it, and because it's Woody Allen, likely won't see it. I'm not a fan.

I've seen Hugh Jackman in other roles. One with Meg Ryan called, um, Kate and Leopold. Entirely cute movie. [Smile] And he's a honey. Van Helsing, also enjoyable. Yeah, he's nice to watch, and not just for his acting. [Big Grin]

Everything about this film was enjoyable...except for Woody himself. He has no timing anymore, no presence anymore...no personality anymore.

Which, since he gets more and more screen time towards the end, created a problem for me. He's still a good writer, but he's now a very lousy actor.

Still, Scarlett and Hugh almost made up for it.
