I don't know if you guys would be interested in this, but I was thinking maybe we should have a thread with basic facts and whatnot about each of us. I sometimes get a little confused as to who's who and where (not to mention why and how!), and I'm probably not the only one. I think it'd be helpful to be able to look through some of these things all in one place instead of piecing it together. [Smile]

I have to run (just got a phone call), but feel free to post whatever you think people should know about you.

I am 78 and live in Argentina. I gained notoriety in my youth as one of the first active female barnstormers, but I stopped flying years ago due to high blood pressure. I currently run a tango salon. I am related to several high-post-count Hatrackers, including Dagonee and rivka, by marriage. I also hold a patent on one of the parts essential to the Roomba's operation.

And that is all I think people should know about me. [Smile]

I am ElJay's daughter-in-law by marriage, having married her son, Richard Barnhardt III (being her male prodigy) three years ago aboard the Kapitan Khlebnikov, a Soviet-era Russian icebreaker. It was a lovely wedding, made even more miraculous by our 6-string Philharmonic quartet and the delicate pale blue butterfly that landed on my uplifted finger just at the last breath of my "I do."

Unfortunately, Richard resents his mother's policy of early weaning and her rigorous attachment to the use of Skinnerian boxes. We are working on this together in a modified version of private Primal Scream therapy, although the neighbors have been complaining. Meanwhile, I labor away at my intricate knitting of Leonard Cohen lyrics into goathair afghans and practice gratuitous redundancy with abandon, with wild passion, and without remorse.

I didn't mention CT, because I think she's a gold-digger after my money. Why else would anyone marry that worthless son of mine? Don't bother trying to poison me, Sara, you're not in the will anyway.

Yeah. You just keep drinking from that can of "rainwater," you old bat. I can forge your name like the best of them.

I am a short, balding aged albino who hangs out in train stations singing scat music and playing the saxophone. Once, I played with ALL the greats, but I couldn't get down off the Horse...until I fell off, ya dig? In the war, I was in Psy Ops where I inadvertently invented the use of blaring disco music to unnerve the enemy. Hey, I thought it was a party!

If you see me, drop some green in the case.

By the way, I am not related to ElJay or CT.

In the interests of this being useful, I'm going to post seriously.

I'm 21 and go to Purdue University. I'm majoring in political science. I'm particularly interested in American politics. At the moment, I'm obsessed with Congress, but that might just be because I work part time at the C-SPAN Archives.

I'm a lapsed Evangelical Christian and my feelings about religion and Christianity are too complex to describe fully here. I don't even fully understand them myself.

Politically I'm moderate. My ideology is all over the map, and my political affiliation depends directly on which party is annoying me the most at any given point in time. Practically, though I identify with the Democratic party at the most basic levels. My favorite Senators are Senator Specter and Senator Byrd.

I'm in a long term relationship with the first guy I ever dated. We've been together for over 3 years and are still going strong. We intend to spend the rest of our lives together, but aren't naive enough to believe that we can be sure about that now.

I was good friends with fugu13, breyerchic, Raia, and Allegra before I joined hatrack. Fugu introduced me, the rest joined because they wanted to know what the heck we were talking about.

I believe that's all of the relevant background that might be useful for deciphering my posts. If I'm leaving something important out, let me know.
