What do you call it when someone purges all their thought, ideas, hopes, and dreams in a conversation?

There's one I keep trying to think of from my Interpersonal Communications class years ago but I just can't remember it.

[Edit: How very interesting. It appears my spouse has been logged into my computer. This is dkw, not Bob.]

Either "finding a soulmate" or "the most awkward date in the world" depending on the participants in the conversation.

actually, it was a kid, about nine or ten years old, stopping me on the street and showing me a report she had done and telling me what she wanted for school, herself, and what she wanted to do with her life as an adult.

I had that happen with a homeless man the other day. I was walking along the street and I caught up with this homeless man just shambling along, and we got to talking, and he more or less gave me his life story along with his hopes for the future. I can't tell you what to call it, but its kind of weird. The feeling that is, not the word. Haven't the slightest idea on the word.

How about abreaction? It's probably not the word your looking for, but a good one none the less.

the old fashioned phrase would be "baring the soul". There is probably a newer version referencing body parts or alimentary systems. But, I'm not up on it.
