My next project is going to be this sweater. It calls for cotton yarn, as you can see. I was going to use knitpicks Shine Sport until it was pointed out to me that it is 60% cotton and 40% modal. So now I'm at a loss. I've used Bernat Cottontots before and it was not a very good experience. I've also worked with the dishcloth cotton yarn they have at Walmart, and while it's great for dishclothes, I don't think it'd be the best for a sweater.
Does anyone have any favorite cotton yarns? Or failing that, any advice on problems I might run into if I just go ahead and use the Shine Sport?
Edit: Forgot to mention. The yarn the pattern uses is not available for purchase online, as far as I can tell. That's why I'm searching for other yarns.

I think the Shine Sport would work fine. The yarn called for in the pattern is 50% cotton/50% tencel. I had to look up what tencel and modal were, and they both seem to be rayon-esque fibers made out of woodpulp, so the Shine Sport would probably be pretty comparable to the original yarn. It would probably hold up better than straight cotton would, too.

No problem. Just be warned that I've never actually used any cotton/rayon blend yarns for anything, so I could be wrong. But if it were my project, that's what I'd use.

Probably for me, I haven't actually made anything for me in ages. But if I get done around Christmas time it might be for someone else.
It does look like a lot of fun to make. I actually love all of Interweave Crochet's patterns, but this is the first time I've ever gotten to make one of them. If you crochet, I'd definately consider buying their magazine. It's sort of expensive, but I get a ridiculous amount of enjoyment out of it.
I'm starting off with this because I'm sort of scared of shaping, and this is mostly one big piece with arms. I think I can manage that. If not, I guess I'll be stuck making afghans for the rest of my life.
