I had to reinstall Windows XP Media Center on my computer using the restore discs that it came with. Some things mess up on the install, like the Drivers.cab and the Mediactr.cab, and now my tuner card, my usb, my speakers, and many other things no longer work. I know why they don't work, and that is because they don't have drivers but whenever I try and install the drivers it says "An error accord during the installation of this device.
The data is invalid."

So, does anybody know how to help me? If not I think I am going to take it a computer shop near me.

Do you have any computer nerd friends that might fix things for free? Otherwise a computer shop be the best option.

Almost everything I've found (hehe, google) says that this is a permissions issue with the registry. Personally I dislike messing around with the registry myself since there's many oppurtunities to make things worse; if it comes to that maybe you're better off taking it into the shop. Even so, the page is worth a look.

What was the original problem that prompted you to reinstall XPMC?

A defrag got ran while media center was on the TV and it froze up and stuff kind of cascaded from there.
Yeah, I am going to take it in, I tried the registry thing or at least I think I tried it but maybe I didn't do it right.
