This should probably be in the Singing In The Shower thread.

While my son was in the shower he wanted a new song to sing. This is what we came up with:

Alexander Matthew Davis
Oh what great big names those are
But if you call just for Sasha
He'll come running, near or far

With cute ears and brains so smart
And eyes so brown they steal your heart.
Alexander Matthew Davis,
Like his name's, a work of art.

Now I can't get the #@$#@$@# song out my head.

You're making him sing songs about himself? That's... sick... [Razz]

And just so you know, I can almost hear the music.

Oh, and I totally read that "I cremated..." the first time. o_O

For some reason, my brain keeps wanting to set this to the Walker, Texas Ranger theme music.

Sometimes when I'm playing the guitar, I'll make up verses to "You Are My Sunshine" about each one of my children.

mph, I hope you don't sing them in the same song as the codependent slightly stalkerish verses, but just sing the chorus with them...

(I've been known to alter the "Caillou" theme song with verses about my daughters. *hangs head* )

You'd be dissapointed then.

My son asked me "How can all of us be your only sunshine?"

My dad created tunes for all of his children when they were born I still know mine and I think all my siblings songs,

Tiny Taylor tender one
Tiny Taylor lots of fun
Tiny Taylor soft and true
Tiny Taylor we love you.

----

We all had pet names but mine was probably the only one that DID NOT stick. "Little TD." When I grew taller then my dad I guess it just didnt make any sense.

Dan, thats pretty cute, but you accept the risks of a catchy tune the moment your create one.

Did you get all religious semantics on this question, or just not answer it? Or something else?

I told him that songs don't always mean what they literally say. It's called "artistic license", and that the song that I sang really meant was that I love them all very much.

That's a wonderful answer. [Smile] Have I ever told you what a good parent I think you are, and how much I appreciate your example and advice (and bev's?)

Ahhh, I love that song... [Frown] Just thinking about the song makes me happy.

No dissing of beloved childhood memories. [Razz]

And Dan, that is adorable!

Amanecer, I love it, too. I wasn't dissing. But I don't sing the verses to my kids-- just the chorus. And I always kinda crack up when the baby swing plays it because it plays a verse AND chorus and that gets me started on the whole song.

I save the verse-singing for our old-timey/bluegrass get-togethers. [Smile]
