In a German law binding certificate I lost some time ago, my last name is written down as 'Montague'. I've spent a hefty portion of my life being snickered at for this, most specifically on the first days of class when teachers proceed with the role call.
Out of spite, I have never seen, watched, or read 'Romeo and Juliet'.
Being a performer, currently involved in collegiate theatre, I've always said that I'd never read or see the play until I was cast in the show itself. -- The time has come. Auditions are right around the bend. - And i've come here to ask for your opinions- What part should I strive for if I want an interesting (in the 'kooky' sense) character, and preferably meddlesome? --
and what shakespeare monologue would be best to audition with if I were interested in trying out for the part of Romeo? - I already have an 'Iago' piece memorized. But I have a younger look to me and feel as if they may only be interested in me as Romeo-- or other young roles? if there are any..
