I wanna host an FTP server for a few reasons:

A) To make live radio show to entertain Hatrack.

B) To host the save file and maps of my mulitplayer games.

How do I do it?

Yes, but you can see which ones have limits that don't affect your desired solution.

It's FTP, so there's no streaming involved here. The main questions are size limit, bandwidth limit, and types of access for admin/posting/restricted access.

Generally, the limits are easier to work around than the limits on a home-hosted server off a broadband account.

Blayne: you don't need an FTP server to do either of those things, particularly the first.

For the first, look into podcasting (there are plenty of tools and howtos to help you). For the second, probably better to make them available via http (albeit transferring them to there using (s)ftp) from a traditional hosting account.

Also, hosting your own involves many security considerations.

I agree with fugu13...there are way to many sites out there were you can host radio stations, mp3 players and image galleries for free. Podcasting is the best way to get your stuff out there and it is the big thing right now. I don't even think that you need iTunes to listen to the podcasts but I could be wrong.

If you want some help just send me a message and I can send links or even build you something through mySpace or someother free web sharing site.

Let us know what you come up with I'll definitely listen to the radio and support whatever you come up with! [Big Grin]
