I am sorry, but I just had to tell everyone that I just got accepted into veterinary school! I have wanted this for as long as I can remember. I told my parents in first grade that I wanted to be a veterinarian and I stuck with it. Now my dreams have finally come true and I will be going to veterinary school in the fall.
I was accepted as a non-resident to North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. This school is actually my top choice based on what I know about them, however, it is not a done deal that I will be going there. I would still like to hear back from the other schools (Purdue-where I just received an interview invitation, Ohio-where I already had my interview, UPenn, Univ. Georgia, Univ. Florida, and Auburn) and visit all of them to make sure where I want to go. Still, no matter what happens from here on out, I have been accepted to at least one place so I WILL be going to vet school!
I am so happy right now that I cannot wipe the smile from my face!

Awesome, and go Purdue. (I can't find the statistic that says people who don't get into Purdue's vet school get into IUs med school).

Breyer, to my knowledge that doesn't say anything about IU's med school. AFAIK the number of applicants per seat at nearly all vet schools is somewhat higher than most med schools.

I know you're about four years ahead of my daughter (Ivygirl), but you remind me of her and her lifelong desire to be a veterinarian, that has never wavered. She's just beginning her first year undergraduate, so it will be awhile before she can apply to the School of Veterinary Medicine. I hope she does as well as you have.
It would be awesome if you could both meet someday.
Congratulations on this huge accomplishment. Many are called, but only few are chosen!
Be sure to study hard. I have heard that it is more difficult than regular medical school in some ways, as you are working with multiple types of bodies instead of just one.

Congrats! You know, most people tell my nine year old who has staunchly maintained since first grade that she wants to be one thing and one thing only that she will "change her mind." In her case, it's a nursing career (specifically, trauma nursing) that she is insistent is in her future.
Nice to see someone who did maintain that desire and is now living out a lifelong dream. You're proof that not everyone changes their mind after all.

I'd like to take a moment to, once again, brag about how awesome my RackhamsRazor is. Sorry, ladies of Hatrack, but she is the best.
Congratulations again, sweetheart. I can't wait to be off to one of these schools with you (and not just because I want to move and find the job I've been wanting since I was a kid). I love you.
