Her name is "Bindi." I saw her on David Letterman a few nights ago. She's a really charming, poised little girl. A natural for show business, if she doesn't get too badly spoiled by the limelight.

I think this is a lot of pressure to put on a little girl. I hope she feels free to stop if she wants to.

Making such a promise at such a young age is something that gives me pause.
I saw Bindi on the Discovery Channel last night after they aired Steve's last show, "Oceans Deadliest." They had a memorial show called, "Crikey, what an adventure," And it was all about Steve. Bindi struck me as very mature for her age , and very poised. I hope if this is the right path for her, she pursues it with the same enthusiasm and compassion her dad had. Every time I see Steve I honestly miss him, I don't know of any other human being for who I feel that way for.

Bindi Irwin strikes me, just from the times I saw her on the Animal Planet shows, plus the news reports in the wake of her father's death, not only as mature for her age, very well-spoken, and quite poised, but also as strong-willed enough to say "No" if she feels she is being exploited.

I don't blame her. She's taken on the mantle of her father's, and really, her whole family's cause, at a very young age. Exploiting free media coverage is part of the game.

Media coverage is an excellent way to spread a message. It's in good interest, so I don't see any problem with it. With all us Americans watching all that tv these days... Oh wait, I don't have cable...
I wasn't willing to pay what they were charging.

Terri Irwin really does not seem like that sort of parent.
Though they have stressed allowing their children to walk whatever path they felt was right for them, I don't think they meant it as a sort of promotion of "hands off" parenting.
With how adoringly Bindi speaks of her father, I really think she just wants to continue doing what she has enjoyed doing with her dad up until now.
