...with a box packed full of stuff. Last fall he announced he was setting the winter aside to respond to any fan mail he received during the month of October. Here's what i just got from him. Pic and full list is there, the short version is: a pile of toys, a stuffed panda, seeds, candy, mints, an autographed photo, two autographed CDs of him reading his work, and a personal letter that addressed questions I asked in my letter, with more notes scribbled around it.
Others report similar care packages, what Palahniuk calls "your own, private book tour event." This is seriously cool...

I've talked about it before here, but about 4-5 years ago I wrote to CP. He responded to me with a letter and a package containing the first edition of Fight Club signed(with random notes inside the book like "this is my favorite number"), a Yugoslovian edition of Fight Club signed, a bunch of stickers, and a box of chocolates. He told me to give the chocolates to someone I like, and to do something unexpected and nice for someone.
The man is awesome. For someone who writes such messed up books, he's unbelievably nice.
Your package is pretty awesome though too. I would've written to him again if I had known about that.

That is really cool. I'm a huge CP fan and have read that he responds to fanmail in such a manner. I have always been afraid that it wouldn't happen, so I haven't sent him any fanmail. Now I guess I will. I do have some questions for the strange/genius man... and I like toys.
