One of our best clients just called up in tears. Her son was leaving his girlfriend's house last night and was held up at gun point. The masked men raped his girlfriend and stole his car. I can't even begin to know what their families are going through right now. The best I could do was help her file the auto claim and told her to call us with anything. I'm a little shaken myself after that call.

Wow - what a horrible nightmare for them. (wasn't for sure what you meant by "client" until I see you filed the auto claim).

I sure hope they find the people who did this, and throw them behind bars for a very long time.

That's so horrible. [Frown]

I agree with FG on what should be done.

Agreed, although with one caveat: I hope they spend every day in jail being raped by the other inmates.
Why would you hope that?

I'm sorry your morning started out that way, Stephan, and I hope the rest of the day improves greatly. I also hope they catch the guy.

So it's justice for someone who rapes and steals a car to be raped, oh, 700+ times assuming a two-year sentence? Yeah, that's a load of crap.

I hope the causes that influenced the thieves/rapists can be clearly identified and addressed, and that these evil men will find an avenue of repentance in their punishment.

Yeah I'm a total believer in that eye for an eye crap. First things first: we'll need to give that man a birth canal if we honestly expect to get suitable mileage out of our use of a justice system for emotional revenge.

We can do it. We have the technology.

Stupid comments aside, that's very tragic and I really grieve for them. I hope that they can get along okay. :(

Thats too bad. What is sad is that they may never catch the people that did this. Now days a lot of people will steal the car, strip it of all of its useless parts, and dump the shell somewhere.

GPS and Onstar technology helped them catch that priest that was on the run. Hopefully the car was equipped with a device like that.

As for the girlfriend, I feel bad for her the most. Sexual predators get such low prison sentences its not even funny. My communications teacher was telling me that in the justice system the penalty for murder is 25 to life. But if you rape them THEN kill them its only 11 years. They call it a "Crime of Passion."

Anyone that disrespects women like that does not deserve to ever get out of prison.

You're communications teacher has grossly misused legal terminology with a very specific meaning. A "crime of passion" in the context of a killing is a reference to manslaughter, a less severe form of homicide. It means there has been a provocation of some kind or evidence that the person has acted without reflection. It has nothing to do with rape.

In Virginia, raping then killing someone makes it a capital murder and can result in execution. Virginia is not unusual in this regard among states with capital punishment.
