Starting this October, Pogo will finally get the deluxe hardbound volume comprehensive reprint treatment! Twelve volumes planned in all, and Jeff (Bone, Shazam: The Monster Society of Evil) Smith will be behind each book's design.

This is great news! I've got all the Pogo books, but they're pretty dog eared by now, and my brother might question my ownership of them. Any idea what these are going to cost per volume? What's the release schedule for them?

Oh dear, does this mean my uncle will want the Pogo book I took out of his room at my grandma's house back, since I can get the real thing? How about the weird plastic toys and the cups?

You have Pogo toys and cups? I had a hollow rubber Albert when I was a kid, and I think I had a couple of cups, but those all would have been destroyed when my parents' house burned down in the late 90s.

Yeah, there's a whole set, with two of one of them. Actually those are at my grandma's house, only one book came home with me. The toys are hollow rubber, like you described. The cups are plastic with I think molded figures on them, and the handles stick out slightly odd (ok maybe I haven't looked at these in a few years, but they were the only cups I'd use when I was younger) At least one handle is broken.

Yep, that's exactly the style of cup I had too. I'm officially envious now, just for the record.

It's just more proof that my grandmother keeps everything. There are toys from my uncle's childhood, to my cousins, to mine (the old legos may have been my brothers). Hand made model cars have their own special shelves, and toy planes still hang from the ceiling, as do a few old bb guns.

Between my brother and I we have almost all of the Pogo books. But half are at my house and half at his.
My email address is "oldnoah" because my feets is killin' me. (or they were, when I registered) My shoes feel fine, however.
I don't know if I want new copies though. They just woudn't seem real. But considering how acid damaged the paper is, it might just be the only real choice.

I expect the cost per volume would be comparable to that of their other "Complete" collections. Editions of The Complete Peanuts run to about 30 dollars or so retail, but can be purchased at a discount in many stores or at online vendors.
The first volume will be released in October, 2007. If it sells well, we'll probably see two volumes or so per year.
