Just finished a fun read, Superpowers.

The story involves 5 college students in Madison, WI. Waking up hungover from a party the night before they each develop superpowers. We have a telepath, a speeder, a flyer, one incredibly strong, and one with invisibility.
The interesting twist is that it almost does take place in our world. This means no super-villains, and nothing but comic books to tell them how they should act. The author tries and succeeds in telling what super heroes might go through in our world. Being a vigilante for instance is against the law.

The only real weakness I felt was the rushed pace of the book. The author set up each chapter as a day, and those chapters were short.

The novel does take place in 2001, and just came out this year, so it is apparant from the beginning what has to happen eventually.

If you are looking for a fun, quick, and easy read this summer, pick it up.

The Publisher's Weekly review on Amazon is less than glowing.

It is, what it is. It is quick, easy, but fun. It is not hard sci-fi, inspirational, or classic literature by any stretch of the imagination.
