My husband and I are looking to take a trip to see the redwoods and we're having some trouble picking out a place on the Northern Californian coast to stay. We'll land in Eureka and want to stay somewhere reasonably close to the park. Does anyone have any recommendations? We were hoping for no more than $200 a night. It looks like there are lots of Bed and Breakfast places and cabin rentals but I'm wary, those pictures could be sneaky!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chocolate Chip cookies are NoCal, if you only eat the broken ones. Also, anything eaten while standing up, has no calories in it eather.

We were in Eureka two years ago, and drove over to bridge to Samoa for the mandatory tourist breakfast at the old Samoa lumber yard. I saw this place link and it looked fun. It didn't look expensive eather. But, if you are flying in, this might be what you are looking for.

Why should they doubt. A semester of pre-med in '64 certainly gives me more actual expertise than the usual hatrack expounder.

But can't stay there the whole time. Still, we'll have a night really close to the park and then we can spend the rest of our little mini break exploring the coast.
There were a couple of bed and breakfasts in Trinidad but they seem a little overpriced :\. Arcata sounds charming but we're having trouble finding a nice place to stay online. We're also looking at the cabins - http://www.cabinsintheredwoods.com/page.asp?id=Reservations
Then there's shelter cove further down the coast, that looks like it has some nice places, like here.
Might be totally out of our price range though *grins*.
As far as things we'd like to do...well we want to see some really big trees, explore the little coastal towns, eat some good food in charming places, enjoy the beach and maybe poke around some tide pools. I think Fozz is more 'commune with nature' and I'm more 'give me a good view and the finer things' but we should be able to get the best of both.
