Trying to root out invasive species and keep forests clear of brush to avoid forest fires is good, I like that idea. But kicking the door open to pave the way for logging and mining is a gross violation of the spirit in which our national forest system was set up in the first place. I'm glad his so called "Healthy Forests" initiative has been at least temporarily struck down. The latest in a string of actions brought against his utterly stupid environmental ideas.

I hate the reporting we get on legal cases. There's absolutely nothing in the story about the current legal status of these rules.
quote:U.S. Forest Service spokesman Joe Walsh said the government was reviewing the decision and noted it differs from rulings on similar cases in two other federal courts.
What were the decisions? At least give us the names of the cases to look them up. If this conflicts with the other two cases, which one has precedence? Sheesh.

On the fourth page here there's talk of two separate Bush forestry rules overturned by the courts but also no names. I'll keep looking tomorrow when I get home from work.
