Given the number of college-related threads popping up recently, I figured that I should chime in. I'm going to USC! I got the Trustee Scholarship (full tuition) and the Merit Research Award (earn up to $3,000/year doing undergrad research), and I was accepted into the engineering honors program. So, uh... go me! Or something.
Oh. Gonna study engineering. I haven't decided what type yet, though.

Excellent! I enjoyed my 4 years at USC. I didn't know how good I had it -- the school actually tries very hard to graduate its students on time. Go figure.
There are some absolutely wonderful things about that school.
IIRC they have a giant petroleum engineering program, and a rather well-thought-of biomedical engineering program.
In my own field of transportation, they are considered pretty good too.
Don't know about their other engineering degrees, however. Probably pretty darn good, though, overall.
If you have any electives at all, USC does have an amazing Psych department, a terrific music department (including electronic music when I was there, but who knows by now), and an absolutely stellar school of film.
So...are you being offered the Thematic Option to handle your general ed requirements? (I sort of doubt it if you're in any of the engineering programs because it eats up electives...but...
If you get offered Thematic Option, take it! It's the best thing evah! And don't let any stupid advisor tell you different.
(unless of course they've come up with something even better by now)
