I love this feature of Gmail. There is no software to download, all you need is a Gmail account (free). If anyone wants one, I have lots of invites.
Post your address and we can chat!

I have an unabashed love of google. I've sworn by gmail as an email program since it first came out, the searching and labeling features are awesome. And most of my friends now use gmail chat instead of AIM. But I also exclusively use google as a search engine, I have google homepage and I use the google calendar and google documents as well.
I'd marry google if they let me.

Gmail chat has been nice, but it isn't the greatest thing Google has made. What is really cool is google calendar: my entire family uses it, and it makes it really easy to keep track of things and figure out who needs to carpool where. I've also gotten several friends to use it to keep track of our Scout troop's activities.

Indeed! I own five: my personal one; two for work (one public viewable and one only for admin); one for my kids' schedules (which my ex is GOING to start using one of these days ); and one with Jewish times/dates for my zip code (there wasn't one when I did a search, so I made one with a little help from Hebcal).
I love Google calendar.
Don't have much use for Google chat. Between Skype and AIM, and my limited chat availability, I'm covered.

mostly because there are less people on it. And most of them use it while at work and can't talk extensively. it's nothing inherent in google chat.

When I have the time to chat, I want to talk to as many people as possible. When I don't have the time, I don't want to talk to pretty much anyone.

In what way is Google calendar better than outlook's calendar? I have to use my outlook one for work, so I've been putting my personal stuff on there too and just logging into my work outlook to check it from home. But if google's is much better, as I suspect it is, I might just keep them separate.

Calendar is nice, but Docs has really revolutionized the way I do business. I realize there's other software that does the same thing, but not for free.

For what I use it for, gcal is far better than Outlook: I don't need to bother setting up a server, I can access my calendar from all my computers (Win, Mac, Linux, and especially lab computers where I can't install software), and it is really easy to get my family and friends set up.
GCal isn't good for enterprise situations unless the company pays for the google apps suite. Most companies don't make those changes lightly.
I have found GCal lacking in some areas: It lacks a to-do list, so I've had to use iCal for that. It can't sync with my PalmPilot, which has led me to almost completely stop using the PDA. (It doesn't help that my primary computer doesn't have a serial port.) Also, the GMail integration is not great, and it has a lot of trouble plucking dates and times out of messages. If that feature worked properly, it would be much better.

Tatiana, I'm not eros, but I can come up with a few good things about google docs.
1) I can save word documents there, go to a different computer, and open them back in word. No disk, no flash drive, no real attatchment, just done.
2) I can share it with other users, so if I want something edited by a friend in Hong Kong, I give it to her, and she gives it back.
I know there are a few others, but I really don't use it that much for that many things, so I may have missed them.

It's a dumbed down version of the MS Office suite, but all documents are autosaved online and viewable/editable by people you choose. It includes a chat interface to discuss what document you're viewing with others. It's an amazing collaborative tool, and very useful for centralizing information if you or your business aren't set up for that sort of thing.
For example, I and two others can be simultaneously viewing and editing the same contact database spreadsheet, with updates occurring almost in real time.
