Gah. I loved that book as a kid. This just makes me sad.
Come to think of it, I read it in Norwegian translation; I wonder if it improves in the original? I think I'll try to find it in the library.

Their reasoning was probably this: "Pre-awareness" for this film is severely limited. Thus, why not ditch the current title for a more marketable one?

Sadly, folks, once I'd watched the trailer all the way through again on the official site (I do this so you don't have to), I discovered that the title is now 'The Seeker: The Dark is Rising'.
So it looks like this new title might just be an implication that sequels are expected to follow.
I wondered what it was about this title that bothered me, and why it sounded different somehow from LOTR or Narnia, or Pirates. And then I realised - all those films had the title of the series first, and the subtitle after. As in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' or 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe'. In this case, they've put the subtitle fist. Which actually just seems to add to the feeling that they care not at all for the original story - title and all, and makes me even more annoyed.

Is this the movie where Chris Eccleston looks like a Ringwraith who forgot his hood?
There's three different fantasy movies coming out with similar graphics and only one (Stardust) has bothered to tell me its plot. I'm getting confused.

Yeah, AR. It's the one where the original protagonist has mysteriously become a Disney/Nickelodeon made-for-cable-movie-type American teen instead of a stout 1960s-era English countryside youth.
