I've started reading David Eddings' Belgeriad on the recommendation of a number of Hatrackers in some fairly recent threads. And I came upon this sentence in Queen of Sorcery:
quote: Uprooted from the only place he had ever known . . .
I did a doubletake: Hey, Uprooted, that's me! And then had to shake my head to see that I'd come to identify so strongly with what was a truly random screen name choice. It's not that unusual of a word, I'm sure that I must have seen it in print numerous times since I started posting here. I think it's the fact that it was at the beginning of a sentence and therefore capitalized that it looked like my name, and also the fact that it was at the beginning of a paragraph and therefore stood out on the page that it caught my attention. /random

My first name's "mike". yeah, it's weird. Actually, my first name is "charles", but the guy I was named after was Charles Michael, and he was called mike, so...
I'm thinking about changing my name, still. Currently I'm looking at "Alex".

I chose my login name from a book in the first place. "William Walker, King of Men. It had a nice ring to it."

That happened to me too!! In the book A Swiftly Titling Planet by Madeline L'Engle, there's a spell of some sort that begins: "In Tara in this fateful hour." Tara's not my real name, but when I read that I was like, "Huhhh what??"
