I was thinking about this book when I woke up this morning, and read about it on wikipedia, and there were quite a few links to online publications of the full text with pictures. And I couldn't find out if it was in the public domain, because I don't want to read a pirated little prince.

I also found this thread, which has many friends we have not heard from in a long time in it: Little Prince Day

Ah, googling the title with "copyright" didn't find anything meaningful, but with "public domain" I found a forum that indicated it is not. I'll see if I get a chance to pick one up today. Now that I am rich as to money and poor as to time.

Ah, to have enough money to be able to spend it on books that you can get for free.

Before the conversion to euros, he was on the 50-franc note. That seems about as public as you can get.

It was published in 1943, so no, that would not be in the public domain unless the author's estate specifically designated it as such, which I do not believe they have.

Ah, to have enough time to find it on the county library site and drive to a branch where they have it in stock.

I guess they do have it at my home branch. Hmm.

I love that book. I prefer the old translation, though, the one I read first. Grisha found me a copy of it in a used bookstore. What a great present! It's crucial that the businessman say "matters of consequence". Grownups are always preoccupied with those. The new translation got it wrong. It's got to be "matters of consequence". [Smile]
