I've been busy the past few weeks with the blog feature of the NDY site. Now that I seem to be able to handle the load of writing stuff up to 5 times per week, I wanted to open up the "comments" option.

Yesterday, I *thought* I did that, but I don't see any change. Anyone use blogger and maybe give me a quick talk-through of what my settings should be to set the "comments" up?

Thanks in advance.

I think you did it right.

You click on "Settings" and then "Comments," then the "Comments" field should be changed to "Show."

Then change "Who can comment" to whatever setting you want.

What you might not have seen is you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the "Save Settings" button.

Turning on "Show word verification for comments?" will also cut down on some of your spam.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and you also may want to republish the entire blog after you change the settings.

[Eek!]

Not sure how I go about reposting the entire blog.

BTW, when I first changed the settings yesterday, I had a post that I didn't publish until after the settings had changed. Still didn't see any comments option, even for that post.

Hmmm...

Republished last post from yesterday and nothing.

Blogger hates me. [Grumble]

Was it just that you missed that "Save Settings" button on the comments page? It's pretty far down the page, and I've missed it before. I've changed settings and then left the page without saving because I didn't see the button.

To republish the entire blog:

Click the "Posting" tab.

Click "Status"

Click "Republish Entire Blog." It will be under the list of the stuff from the last publish.

Nope. Did the "save settings."

Got the cheery "settings successfully saved" message.

Found it!!!!!!!

Turns out I have to change the template for my posts as well to allow comments. Changed yesterday's and will change a few of the most recent ones.

Thanks - I don't think I would have stumbled onto this without going through this process with you.
