I listened to the itunes meet the author interview with JP last night and found him to be a completely uninteresting guy. I haven't read his books, though I've been given a few, and now I have no desire to read them.
The way he talks about his career as a writer is disheartening- at one point he simply says: I knew I wasn't good enough to write a serious book so I settled on thrillers. He spent a large portion of the talking time bringing up movie projects he might be doing and celebrities who were interested in doing his movies. Is he a writer or a screenwriter, or what? The interview as ostensibly about his new book, but it was barely mentioned.
I would suggest listening to the interview if you use podcasts on itunes- I've never heard one that made me want to avoid an author before, but have heard some that got me interested.
So what do any of you Patterson readers think? Should I give one of his books a chance? And which?

I read one, and it was good for staying awake on a car trip. So is it good that he admits he's a sell out? Is there any redemption from that? I guess I have romantic notions about the uses one puts ones talents toward. It's very unsettling, given that I've never published anything, mostly out of laziness and fear.
