I used the link below purely because of the picture at the top of the article. The article itself is incidental.

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/11/05/hollywood.labor.ap.ap/index.html

These folks write our comedies, dramas, action flicks, horror movies, documentaries, TV shows, anything that requires writing designed to make the viewer feel something. Millions of dollars are paid to these folks, and billions of dollars are ultimately at stake in this strike.

Yet with all those writers, and money involved, that's the best picket sign they could come up with?

I don't know whether to side with the movie executives, or start working on my own movie script. [Wink]

You're right. Apart from directness that sign is quite pointless. Its not like they really have to tell anyone that they're on strike. Id say most of America already knows.

I think you vastly overestimate the interest most of America has in writers.

Comedy Central has said "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" would likely go into repeats as well.
This is serious.

I think that is fairly typical. I can't remember seeing any strike sign that said much more than ON STRIKE.

Tim Minear said it would be more to the point if their signs were completely blank...

There's a Twitter feed for writers' strike news updates, compiled by WritersWrite.com, for anyone interested.
