Actually, the mascot is a covered wagon. The horses that pull said wagon are named "Boomer" and "Sooner". The team is called the Oklahoma Sooners. I guess that is where you are getting the criminal from.

When we could get my Dad to reminisce about WWII we took the opportunity. He once told about coming home from the South Pacific on a troop ship with a bunch of Marines who had been out of the country for a long time. The ship kept playing the music from Oklahoma on the PA system. The Marines finally rebeled and demanded that they play "real American music" not that "newfangled" stuff.

Yeah, that's a little odd. Especially, when we yell "Boomer Sooner". It's like yelling "Not-cheater Cheater".

Well, because of what "Sooner" meant originally (during the land rush).
We are going to see the musical Oklahoma on stage the first week of December. So we will get to hear the song in your title

You have to be proud of something. I think the wagon is one of the strangest objects for a mascot. I had not heard of an inanimate object being the mascot before.
FG, Where are you going to watch it? Discoveryland is not that far from you.

Oh, it's just a local high school group. So it won't be the best production, but it will be fun.

Ross the intern did a bit on the Tonight Show about the OU Texas game. It was hilarious. He said you have to support a state that has a show tune as it's state song.
