How are you spending YOUR New Year's Eve?

Well, my oldest daughter and I have made our plans. See, my husband is going to be at the fire station. We love him, we love spending time with him, but when he's gone we can do things we cannot do if he's home. So, we're going to take adavantage of the time he is away from us.

In the morning, we will cook. Mostly our favorite finger foods. Lots of it.

Then we will prepare the great room. We'll put a vinyl table cloth on the floor, to hold all the food. Around that we will stack pillows, blankets, and our favorite stuffed animals. And boxes of tissues.

Right before noon we'll change into pajamas. Beginning at noon, we will start the first disc of Fellowship of the Ring - extended edition. We will change out discs and continue until we have watched all three movies, in the extended versions, on the big screen HDTV.

The total running time is 683 minutes, or 11 hours, 23 minutes. Allowing time to change discs, stand and stretch, go potty and refill food platters I figure we will finish right around midnight.

Perfect way to ring in the New Year. [Big Grin]

Dang. That sounds like a heck of a plan. I'm already jealous!

Maybe I can do that in a few years, when AI Unit 3 is no longer 1 1/2 years old.

I'm curious why you wouldn't be able to do that with your husband home.

All right! Awesome planning.

I will, hmm, I don't know yet. [Confused]

Simply because he is not a fan of LOTR. He wouldn't want to watch almost 12 hours of movies he doesn't care about. And if he were home, I would want to spend New Year's Eve with him. But since he's not...we'll do this instead.

My three other kids will not be up for such a marathon session, so they'll probably wander in and out.

I forgot to mention the fire - we will have a roaring fire going. I'll bring in lots of wood so I don't have to go back outside. We'll be toasty and comfy and having a great evening. [Smile]

I envy you those 11 1/2 hours of unfettered vegetation. That sounds so idyllic! How in the world do you get your kids to not bother you for so long?! [Big Grin]

I don't have any real plans yet. I will be working until 7pm though.

A friend of mine and his wife we going to come over...but he ended up having to work even though he was supposed to be off (the life of a medical resident).

I might end up going out with some people from work. I'm sure something will come up by then.

I think Tony and I will end up going to his sister's party. It's a costume party, theme is princesses or pirates.

Tony is determined to go in a toga and an eyepatch.

Maybe I'll watch all 3 pirates of the carribean movies. I'm also stag on New Year's Eve. Unless I get together with some people to play Karaoke revolution. The trouble is, they either have to sleep over or drive home afterward. We'll see. I can totally hook up my laptop and do a fangirl commentary on my livejournal.

We'll go to Cambuquira, a small town famous for its mineral waters and waterfalls. There will be a nice party in a hotel (many friends will attend). At 00:00 we'll all jump into a nearby lake (where the water is pleasantly hot and steaming).
