I don't have much to say about it right this second because I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to put things together for our Christmas party, which starts in an hour and a half. Also, I don't think I quite understand what the issue is, but I figured I'd post it anyway, while I was thinking about it.

Is it just me or are the advocates for the poor trying to kill them? They want people who couldn't afford to get out for Katrina to come back and not be able to get out when the next one hits. They don't want new housing that presumably learns from the mistakes of the earlier buildings. Instead, they just want to restore stuff cheaply built in the first place that's been rotting for...what two years now?
The whole subject has yet to make any kind of sense to me. I don't expect it to start any time soon.

It seems clear to me that they're not upset about the tearing down so much as worried that equitable replacements won't ever get built. Which may be a valid concern, but I can think of better advocacy methods to work toward ensuring that they do.
